Introduction to the Core

Join Professor Larry Jackson, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Director of the Center for the Core Curriculum, to experience Columbia's famed Core Curriculum firsthand. Professor Jackson will share an overview of the Core Curriculum today, its history at Columbia and the critical and creative thinking skills that students develop through the study of important ideas and perspectives from literature, science, philosophy, music and art. Then, follow along as Professor Jackson leads a seminar discussion with current Columbia students, modeled off the Core Curriculum classroom. The program will conclude with student reflections on studying the Core Curriculum. 

This event will be presented webinar-style through Zoom and moderated by a staff member of Undergraduate Admissions. Audience members will not be on camera or expected to participate during the event. Please note that there will not be time during the program to address audience questions.
