General Information & Organization Description
This application is for current first-years, sophomores, and juniors in Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science who wish to apply for membership to the Undergraduate Recruitment Committee (URC) for Spring 2014.
The URC is a selective campus organization that supports the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Visitors Center in sharing the Columbia undergraduate experience with prospective students, families, and visitors. The URC coordinates all student admission volunteers. With around 200 active members, the URC is one of the largest and most active undergraduate organizations on campus. URC members are primarily trained campus tour guides but also lead a wide assortment of recruitment initiatives intended to introduce and affirm the Columbia undergraduate experience with the world's best high school students.
The role of the URC is critical to the success of the Columbia admissions process. The campus tour is one of the most cited factors in helping students to decide whether or not to apply to and/or choose to attend Columbia University. For many prospective students, the campus tour may be the only time they get the chance to interact with a real live Columbia undergraduate. In addition to leading weekly tours, reaching out to prospective and admitted students through online and in-person communication gives members the opportunity to help shape the future of our Columbia community.

The Application
Please complete this application by 5:00pm on November 1st. After submitting your application for review, you MUST stop by the Visitors Center in 213 Low Library to sign up for an interview appointment. The Visitors Center is the first door on the left upon entering Low Library.
URC interviews will be held from 9:00am until 6:00pm November 11th through November 15th. Please note that the URC interview will last approximately 20 minutes and will be conducted by Admissions Officers and members of the URC Advisory Board- a select group of current students who oversee various outreach initiatives and help govern the URC. You MUST sign up for and attend your interview to be officially considered for membership in the URC.
Decisions will be emailed to all URC applicants by Friday, November 22nd. While the process is selective, please remember that all URC membership and activity is volunteer and non-paid.
